Blogging is a great way to promote your matchmaking business and position yourself as an expert…and it’s free!
Charly Lester set up the 30 dates blog which went viral and is now the Head Judge at the UK Blog Awards. Here are her top 5 tips for matchmakers starting out in blogging….
1) People have short attention spans
Be concise and to the point, people don’t want to read lonnnnggggggg blog articles. When was the last time you sat and read a long post start to finish? There’s no need to write essays because short and sweet is much more accessible for people.
2) Use your authentic voice
People come back to great blogs because they know what to expert and part of that is being consistent with your voice – the best way to be consistent? Write as yourself. Don’t over think, be honest and write as if talking to a friend.
3) Get basic SEO knowledge
You don’t need to be an SEO (search engine optimisation) whizz but knowing the basics will go a long way as it means you have a much higher chance of appearing at the top of Google which means more visitors and potentially, more sales!
4) Use great imagery
Beautiful and relevant images compliment a blog post – we all love images! Just be sure to make sure they’re not so big that they slow down the page.
5) Write regularly
If you’re blogging for your matchmaking business get into the habit of writing once per week – more if you find you have the time. Keep up to date with industry news and make a note of blog ideas as and when they come to you so you always have something interesting to write about.
